Ideas for the car???

The first car would be neat but the only problem would be it having a distinguishable front and back. I like the idea of a shoe car... it has been done a few times but it has a front and a back without having to think about it. I also like the idea that shoes are made for walking in and protecting one's feet. The symbolize travel, the body and can also be read into a person's personality type.

The snail was put in because I like it and it reminds me of the old movie version of Dr. Dolittle.

How long do I take when looking at things?

I don't think I spend enough time just looking at things and staying interested in the object, image or event. Unless I find myself captured by something of what I'm looking at that pulls me in, I find it really difficult to look without looking beyond that object and back into my own dazed mind. The other day while looking through WSU art gallery, I think I only stood in front of a piece of art for about 10 to 20 seconds... if anything 1 min was my max for each.

Every day objects very in the amount of time I look, sometime fleeting and sometime I cant help but stare. I did have a moment like that the other day while I waited for the bus. A girl walked up next to me and I found that I couldn't stop staring at her hair and colbolt blue coat. Her long hair was a bleached blonde which changed to a warm orange as it fell down her back. The way the colors lay next to each other was beautiful.

It was a awkward.

Now that I think of it, I do tend to look the longest at people. Creepy...

More Ideas on Project # 2

I am hoping to make this tubing piece about the bonds between genders in relation to the heart. In the center of the knot/heart I have decided to make something that symbolize a baby/fetus or something that represents the future of that particular bond.

I need to think up of some ideas of representations of gender.

Tubing Monkey Knot

So during this spring break I hope to create a monkey fist knot made out of tubing. I want it to be filled with some sort of liquid and bits of string within.

When I first made a monkey fist knot, I thought that it was a good representation of a heart. (I also had help realizing this from a classmate in sculpture) So I might take this in the direction of being an abstract heart.

I'm still puzzeling through some of the aspects of this project, like what would be a good center to the heart. It needs to be something precious and worthy of being a core of this heart.

I was looking at the historic, religious and mythic background of blood recorded in Wikipedia. I will do more research the significance of blood.

I might think of a mixture of these two background ideas...

After reading this wiki-history on monkey fists, I felt that maybe doing a from of transportation from one point to another would carry some meaning (where that might be is still up in the air). I was also thinking that I could cut these fist as I walked, leaving a trail of fears, anxieties, doubts, sorrows and grief that would lead from point a to point b.
I want to color code the monkey fist to represent memories/stories with some form of emotional weight to them and then wear them on my body. I'm not sure if I should make my own color code or one taken by an existing one like in this site below.

It could be the aura of that particular memory... which I was basically after in regards to giving these knots (memories/stories) attached with emotion (color/sound or no sound) and possibly an actual label of a memory/story that fills those requirements .
