Ever since I started handling clay, or any other three dimensional material, I've always wanted to try and make a "hand puppet" creature. What I mean to say is hands pulling together to make this creature. The body would be the "arm" that the "hands" (limbs or other characteristics) emerge out of.
I thought of this idea when I was in a puppeteering group for a little bit and we were doing an exercise on making faces with our hands like the seen in Labyrinth.
